Zlatá Koruna

Medieval monasteries were special places for gathering, contemplation and prayer. Thanks to its position in the deep Vltava Valley, the Cistercian monastery retained its original atmosphere for many years, even after the departure of the order. For centuries it was a lively source of the extensive colonisation efforts to foundamentally transform the south Bohemian landscape and establish dozens of new villages. Today the monastery is regarded as one of the most important complexes of early and high medieval architekture in Central Europe.
